Charity Ceremony (Golrizan) Held in South Korea Featuring the IZSF Selected Team

A Golrizan charity ceremony—a traditional Iranian event for raising funds and promoting generosity—was held in Seoul, South Korea, featuring a performance by the selected team of the International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation (IZSF).

The event, which aimed to collect donations for humanitarian causes, brought together Zurkhaneh athletes from South Korea, Kenya, and Azerbaijan, demonstrating the spirit of philanthropy and friendship among nations under the motto: “Zurkhaneh Sports and Global Peace.”

This magnificent ceremony, rooted in the ancient culture and traditions of Iran, was organized through the efforts and coordination of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Seoul, with a powerful performance by the IZSF selected team, hosted at Seoul National University.

The event, held in solidarity with the earthquake victims of Kermanshah, was organized jointly by the IZSF and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in South Korea. It was attended by political, academic, and sports figures, including Hassan Taherian, Iran’s Ambassador to Seoul; Bahram Afsharzadeh, Senior Executive Advisor to the International Federation of Zurkhaneh and Pahlevani Sports; Amirreza Ayrom, an Iranian diplomatic official in Korea and President of the Asian Confederation; along with a number of university professors and members of the Iranian community living in South Korea.

Following the Zurkhaneh sports performance, Iranians (embassy staff and expatriates) and foreign guests made their donations to the victims of the Kermanshah earthquake through the Golrizan tradition. The financial contributions were collected by Zurkhaneh athletes from South Korea, Kenya, and Azerbaijan, symbolizing the noble values of Zurkhaneh sports—generosity, unity, and peace—which transcend race, nationality, and cultural boundaries, spreading a message of kindness and compassion in today’s turbulent world.
