Pahlavani Golrizan Ceremony in Zarqan: The Release of a Prisoner through the Efforts of Benefactors and the Warm Breath of Veterans

Zarqan – According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of the Asian Confederation of Zurkhaneh Sports and Pahlavani Wrestling, the traditional and spiritual Golrizan ceremony, aimed at securing the release of a needy prisoner, was held yesterday afternoon in the city of Zarqan in an atmosphere filled with intimacy, solidarity, and the spirit of Pahlavani. Once again, the event demonstrated in practice the deep connection between Zurkhaneh–Pahlavani culture and social philanthropy.
The ceremony was organized by the Pahlavan Khalil Oghab Shiraz Charity Institute and Zurkhaneh Academy, and was attended by a group of benefactors, local trustees, and enthusiasts of Pahlavani culture. It took place at the Zarqan Conference Hall.
The performance of the Golrizan ritual and the recitation of its special prayer were led by Pahlavan Hossein Gharqi, a renowned veteran of Zurkhaneh sports, Director of the Charity Institute, and Head of the Technical Committee of the Asian Confederation of Zurkhaneh Sports and Pahlavani Wrestling (AZSC). He attended the ceremony at the invitation of Morshed Hossein Bahadari and the family of the needy prisoner, traveling from Shiraz.
According to observations by our correspondent, the atmosphere of the ceremony was imbued with spirituality, charitable enthusiasm, and a strong sense of public unity. Welcoming the event warmly, the benefactors of Zarqan raised approximately 930 million tomans to secure the release of the prisoner—an impressive amount that reflects the deep-rooted culture of altruism and social solidarity in the region.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the family of the needy prisoner issued a message of gratitude, thanking all benefactors—especially Pahlavan Hossein Gharqi—and describing his presence as a source of encouragement, hope, and blessing. Part of the message read:
> “The masterful performance of the Golrizan ritual by this great veteran lit the lamps of charity in the name of the Infallible Imams (peace be upon them) and brought the light of hope into our hearts.”
The Pahlavan Khalil Oghab Shiraz Charity Institute and Morshed Hossein Bahadari were also honored as the main supporters of this benevolent initiative—an effort whose social impact goes far beyond financial assistance and is regarded as a step toward strengthening solidarity, Pahlavani ethics, and social responsibility.
What took place in Zarqan was not merely a Golrizan ceremony; rather, it was a vivid manifestation of the role of Zurkhaneh veterans in promoting the spirit of chivalry and humanitarianism. Among them, the name of Pahlavan Hossein Gharqi once again shone as an enduring figure in the field of Pahlavani tradition and philanthropy.
Undoubtedly, such humanitarian actions will remain in the collective memory of the people, bearing fruits of peace, dignity, and hope for society.
